Women's Leadership and Reentry Seminars
Fulbrighters at the 2011 Austin Women's Leadership Seminar pose in front of the Texas State Capitol.
The Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, in collaboration with the Institute of International Education and higher education insitution partners, hosts a Fulbright Enrichment Seminar series for women Fulbright Foreign Students from selected world regions: Sub-Saharan Africa, Southeast Asia, and Latin America.
These re-entry workshop and leadership seminars bring together approximately 120 Fulbright women graduate students from a total of 29 countries, drawn from the more than 3,000 visiting students studying this year in universities across the United States as Fulbright participants.
In 2012, the seminars take place in:
| Latin America Seminar | March 7-10 | Boston, Massachusetts |
| Southeast Asia Seminar | March 28-April 1 | Moraga, California |
| Sub-Saharan Africa Seminar | April 10-April 15 | Austin, Texas |
At each seminar, the women Fulbright Students explore women’s leadership with successful local women leaders in various sectors, prepare to reenter their home countries’ societies, reflect on their experience in the United States, and learn more about the unique culture of each host city through keynote speeches, panel discussions, and business site visits. The seminars also give the participants a valuable personal and professional opportunity to meet and network with other women Fulbrighters from their world region who are studying in the United States as they complete their Fulbright grant and return home. Each participant stays with a local host family as part of the seminar’s cultural exchange.
