Advantages of Being a Fulbrighter

Prestige and Access
Being a Fulbrighter means following in the footsteps of countless government leaders, prize-winning authors, entrepreneurs, innovative researchers, charismatic teachers, and passionate community activists. Those are large shoes to fill, but Fulbrighters continuously live up to this legacy year after year. This tradition of excellence forms the foundation of Fulbright’s reputation. This reputation, in turn, stands behind each Fulbrighter and facilitates the process of gaining access to facilities and sources of information and seeking collaboration.

Enrichment Activities
First-year students and visiting scholars to the United States are invited to participate in enrichment seminars. Cultural events are available for students and scholars in the U.S., such as performing arts events, lectures and social activities. Visiting scholars can guest lecture at other universities through the Occasional Lecturer Program.

U.S. Embassies and Fulbright Commissions often organize cultural and social activities for U.S. Fulbrighters abroad

Leadership Development
When individuals of promise and accomplishment are offered the opportunity to learn and teach across cultures and boundaries—to see the world as others see it—something extraordinary happens: they discover their potential to lead.

No experience inspires leadership like America's flagship program for international exchange, the Fulbright Program. Today, in an age of unprecedented global connection, the need for mutual understanding and partnerships built upon the free exchange of peoples and ideas has never been greater.  Fulbrighters face this challenge with a sense of hope and responsibility as they tackle the daunting problems of the 21st century with creativity, expertise and resolve—inspiring us all.

Fulbright Community
When you become a Fulbrighter, you join a community of approximately 300,000 alumni from approximately 180 countries who have participated in the program since 1946. Current Fulbrighters are guided by alumni through the Fulbright Associations worldwide. After the grant period, Fulbright Associations and the Fulbright online community both offer continuous support by providing opportunities. Whether you are searching career development possibilities, new grant opportunities, travel advice, or post-grant activities, Fulbrighters are there to help each other, looking for new grant opportunities, considering a new field, contemplating an advanced degree or even just looking to meet peers who share your academic and professional interests, Fulbright alumni can be found to offer you advice and assistance along the way.
