Fulbright Program Advisers Fulbright Program Advisers are faculty members or administrators at U.S. colleges and universities who advise candidates on the application process, conduct on-campus panel interviews and provide general information and support. Orientation Programs Fulbright Gateway Orientations, which focus on academic skills, graduate student life and cross-cultural awareness, are offered to foreign students upon arrival in the United States. U.S. students and scholars are invited to pre-departure orientations, often held in Washington, DC, before departing the U.S. U.S. and Foreign Teachers are invited to an orientation in August, and U.S. teachers are offered an additional spring workshop. Many Fulbright Commissions and U.S. Embassies host in-country orientations for U.S. Fulbrighters and/or pre-departure orientations for Fulbrighters to the U.S. Language Preparation Foreign students may apply to participate in pre-academic programs in order to increase English language proficiency, refine English language skills or prepare for study in a specific discipline such as law or health. The Fulbright Critical Language Enhancement Award, a component of the National Security Language Initiative, is available to students who have been awarded a Fulbright U.S. Student full grant and who intend to use one of the eligible languages in their Fulbright project.
