The Fulbright Program with New Zealand was established in 1948, making New Zealand one of the first five countries to join the program. There are over 2,100 U.S. and New Zealand alumni of the program. Fulbright Program Opportunities in the U.S. for New Zealanders About 22 grants are available annually for New Zealand students to pursue Master's and Ph.D. degrees in the U.S. About three grants are available for New Zealand scholars to conduct research or lecture. Fulbright Program Opportunities in New Zealand for Americans Grants to New Zealand for U.S. citizens are offered in the student and scholar categories. Thirteen awards are available annually for graduate students at all levels. About five grants are available for U.S. scholars to conduct research or lecture. U.S. scholars also may engage in short-term projects in New Zealand through the Fulbright Specialists Program.
