Grants are available for Czech students to pursue pre-doctoral research projects or Master’s and Ph.D. degrees in the United States. Czech scholars are offered post-doctoral research and lecturing opportunities. There is also a Fulbright-Masaryk grant for researchers and/or university teachers who participate actively in academic and community life. The Fulbright-Proshek grant enables physicians to conduct research and teach at the University of Minnesota School of Medicine. Czech teachers and school administrators have the opportunity to participate in a direct exchanges with American counterparts.

Opportunities in the U.S. for Czechs

The Fulbright Program awards grants to recent graduates, postgraduate candidates, and developing professionals and artists to conduct career-launching study and research in the Czech Republic. Advanced graduate students capable of working independently are preferred.  English Teaching Assistantships are also available for American graduate students. Grants to American scholars enable them to accept invitations for temporary lecturing or lecturing/researching positions at Czech universities. American teachers and school administrators have the opportunity to participate in direct exchanges with Czech counterparts.

    • The Fulbright Program in the Czech Republic is administered by the J. William Fulbright Commission for Educational Exchange in the Czech Republic.

    • Students

      Fulbright Foreign Student Program

      The Fulbright Foreign Student Program enables graduate students, young professionals, and artists from abroad to research and study in the United States for one year or longer.

    • Scholars

      Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program

      The Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program provides grants to lecture and/or conduct postdoctoral research at U.S. institutions for an academic semester to a full academic year.

      Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence (SIR) Program

      The Fulbright SIR Program brings scholars and professionals from abroad to U.S. college and university campuses for a semester or an academic year, primarily to teach undergraduate courses. SIR grantees also assist in developing curricula and serve as a resource for faculty, students, and the community.

      Fulbright European Union Scholar-in-Residence (EUSIR) Program

      The Fulbright EUSIR Program aims to strengthen U.S. expertise in EU Affairs. The program brings scholars and professionals from EU countries to U.S. college and university campuses for semester-long grants to give guest lectures and seminars, consult with faculty and students on research, engage in collaborative study and provide outreach to neighboring institutions and the local community.

      Fulbright Classroom Teacher Exchange Program

      The Fulbright Classroom Teacher Exchange Program provides opportunities for teachers to participate in direct exchanges of positions with colleagues from other countries for a semester or a year. By living and working abroad, exchange teachers gain an understanding and appreciation of different educational systems and cultures, and enrich their schools and communities by providing students with new perspectives about the world in which they live.

    • In the Czech Republic, Fulbright U.S. grantees are supported by the J. William Fulbright Commission for Educational Exchange in the Czech Republic.

    • Students

      Fulbright U.S. Student Program

      The Fulbright U.S. Student Program offers fellowships for U.S. graduating college seniors, graduate students, young professionals, and artists to study abroad for one academic year.

      Fulbright English Teaching Assistantships (ETA) Program

      The Fulbright ETA Program, an element of the Fulbright U.S. Student Program, places U.S. students as English teaching assistants in schools or universities overseas, thus improving foreign students’ English language abilities and knowledge of the United States while increasing their own language skills and knowledge of the host country. ETAs may also pursue individual study/research plans in addition to their teaching responsibilities.

      The Fulbright U.S. Student Program is administered by the Institute of International Education (IIE).

      Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program

      The Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program sends American scholars and professionals abroad to lecture and/or conduct research in a wide variety of academic and professional fields.

      Fulbright Specialist Program

      The Fulbright Specialist Program, a short-term complement to the traditional Fulbright Scholar Program, sends U.S. faculty and professionals to serve as expert consultants on curriculum, faculty development, institutional planning, and related subjects at overseas academic institutions for a period of 2 to 6 weeks.

      The Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program is administered by the Council for International Exchange of Scholars (CIES).

      The Fulbright Classroom Teacher Exchange Program provides opportunities for teachers to participate in direct exchanges of positions with colleagues from other countries for a semester or a year. By living and working abroad, exchange teachers gain an understanding and appreciation of different educational systems and cultures, and enrich their schools and communities by providing students with new perspectives about the world in which they live.

      The Fulbright Classroom Teacher Exchange Program is administered by the Academy for Educational Development (AED).
