2010 Pre-Departure Orientation for Fulbright Scholars and Students Going to Europe and Eurasia

The Fulbright Program for U.S. students and scholars is sponsored and managed by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) of the United States Department of State. The Institute of International Education (IIE) administers the Fulbright U.S. Student Program. The Council for International Exchange of Scholars (CIES) administers the Fulbright Program for
U.S. lecturers and senior researchers.
The European and Eurasian Programs Branch at the U.S. Department of State organizes this annual Pre-Departure Orientation (PDO) for U.S. Fulbright scholars and students going to
Europe and Eurasia. Sessions will cover Fulbright program policies and guidelines, logistical preparations for a Fulbright grant, health care, political and economic issues in Europe and Eurasia, and country-specific information.
We will also be hosting an orientation specifically for Fulbright English Teaching Assistants (ETAs) to the region to take place after the general PDO.
Below is a general outline of the orientation with start and end times. We will be updating this website in the coming weeks and months with more details and additional information. Please visit periodically for updates.
Day 1: Wednesday, July 21, 2010 (General PDO begins) Registration: Noon Last event ends: 7:30 p.m.
Day 2: Thursday, July 22, 2010 (General PDO) Breakfast: 8:00 a.m. Last session ends: 4:15 p.m.
Day 3: Friday, July 23, 2010 (General PDO concludes) Breakfast: 7:30 a.m. Last general session ends: 2:15 p.m.
Fulbright ETA orientation only Session begins: 2:15 p.m. Last session ends: 5:30 p.m.
Day 4: Saturday, July 24, 2010 (Fulbright ETA orientation only) Breakfast: 8:00 a.m. Last session ends: 5:30 p.m.
Day 5: Sunday, July 25, 2010 (Fulbright ETA orientation only) Breakfast: 8:00 a.m. Last session ends: 5:30 p.m.
