European Union
Grants are available for EU students to pursue graduate studies or pre-doctoral research in the U.S. Post-doctoral research and lecturing opportunities are also offered to scholars from the EU who specialize in EU affairs and/or EU-U.S. relations. In addition, faculty from the EU often participate in the Scholars-in-Residence program.
Opportunities in the U.S. for European Union Citizens
Grants to the EU for U.S. citizens are offered in the student and scholar categories. Full academic-year awards are available for students to carry out either independent or Ph.D. dissertation research, and scholar research awards are generally offered for U.S. faculty and professionals. Research for Fulbright grants to the EU should focus on EU affairs and/or EU-U.S. relations is preferred. Affliations in two or more EU member countries are also possible and preferred.

Fulbright Foreign Student Program
The Fulbright Foreign Student Program enables graduate students, young professionals, and artists from abroad to research and study in the United States for one year or longer.

Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program
The Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program provides grants to lecture and/or conduct postdoctoral research at U.S. institutions for an academic semester to a full academic year.

Teachers
There is no Fulbright teacher exchange with the European Union; however, Fulbright Teacher Exchange Programs exist for the following European Union countries: the Czech Republic, Finland, France, Hungary, and the United Kingdom.
Fulbright Classroom Teacher Exchange Program
The Fulbright Classroom Teacher Exchange Program provides opportunities for teachers to participate in direct exchanges of positions with colleagues from other countries for a semester or a year. By living and working abroad, exchange teachers gain an understanding and appreciation of different educational systems and cultures, and enrich their schools and communities by providing students with new perspectives about the world in which they live.
Distinguished Fulbright Awards in Teaching Program
The Distinguished Fulbright Awards in Teaching Program is designed to recognize and encourage excellence in teaching in the U.S. and abroad. Twenty-four highly talented U.S. and international teachers are selected to receive a grant to study at a university, conduct research, teach classes and workshops, and develop a project pertaining to their field of educational inquiry during their semester overseas.
