Sangeeta Mishra lives and works in southern Nepal. She is a recent Fulbright-sponsored graduate of John Hopkins University, where she received a Master's in Public Health to supplement her original medical training in Nepal.  As a gynecologist in her native Nepal, Sangeeta has seen first hand the causes of one of Asia's highest maternal mortality rates.  She wants to take what she has learned as a Fulbrighter in the U.S. to combat the issue of mothers dying while or shortly after giving birth.  Through a public campaign that will encourage cervical and uterine cancer screening, she aims to increase awareness of women's health issues among rural residents.

Boston's NPR affiliate WBUR interviewed Sangeeta about women's health in Nepal for its Here and Now program on June 5, 2009.
