The United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEF/P) has operated under an agreement between the United States and Pakistan since 1951. As a binational Commission, USEF/P is committed to supporting increased international understanding through the administration of the highest-quality Fulbright Program and educational advising and testing services. The Fulbright student program for Pakistani grantees has been greatly enhanced in the past three years by a commitment from USAID and the Pakistani Higher Education Commission to provide funding to support Master's and Ph.D. degree study in the U.S.

Grants to Pakistan are available for U.S. scholars. Lecturer/research grants are generally offered for U.S. faculty and professionals with support provided by the United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEF/P).

    Opportunities in the U.S. for Pakistanis

    • In Pakistan, the Fulbright Program is administered by the United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEF/P).

    • Students

      Fulbright Foreign Student Program

      The Fulbright Foreign Student Program enables graduate students, young professionals, and artists from abroad to research and study in the United States for one year or longer.

      Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) Program

      The Fulbright FLTA Program, a component of the Fulbright Foreign Student Program, provides young teachers of English as a Foreign Language the opportunity to refine their teaching skills and broaden their knowledge of American cultures and customs while strengthening the instruction of foreign languages at colleges and universities in the United States.

      Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program

      The Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program provides grants to lecture and/or conduct postdoctoral research at U.S. institutions for an academic semester to a full academic year.

      Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence (SIR) Program

      The Fulbright SIR Program brings scholars and professionals from abroad to U.S. college and university campuses for a semester or an academic year, primarily to teach undergraduate courses. SIR grantees also assist in developing curricula and serve as a resource for faculty, students, and the community.

      Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program

      The Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program sends American scholars and professionals abroad to lecture and/or conduct research in a wide variety of academic and professional fields.

      Fulbright Specialist Program

      The Fulbright Specialist Program, a short-term complement to the traditional Fulbright Scholar Program, sends U.S. faculty and professionals to serve as expert consultants on curriculum, faculty development, institutional planning, and related subjects at overseas academic institutions for a period of 2 to 6 weeks.

      The Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program is administered by the Council for International Exchange of Scholars (CIES).
