    Opportunities in the U.S. for Canadians

    • The Fulbright Program in Canada is administered by the Commission for Educational Exchange Between the United States of America and Canada.

    • Students

      Fulbright Foreign Student Program

      The Fulbright Foreign Student Program enables graduate students, young professionals, and artists from abroad to research and study in the United States for one year or longer.

      Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) Program

      The Fulbright FLTA Program, a component of the Fulbright Foreign Student Program, provides young teachers of English as a Foreign Language the opportunity to refine their teaching skills and broaden their knowledge of American cultures and customs while strengthening the instruction of foreign languages at colleges and universities in the United States.

      Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program

      The Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program provides grants to lecture and/or conduct postdoctoral research at U.S. institutions for an academic semester to a full academic year.

      Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence (SIR) Program

      The Fulbright SIR Program brings scholars and professionals from abroad to U.S. college and university campuses for a semester or an academic year, primarily to teach undergraduate courses. SIR grantees also assist in developing curricula and serve as a resource for faculty, students, and the community.

      Fulbright U.S. Student Program

      The Fulbright U.S. Student Program offers fellowships for U.S. graduating college seniors, graduate students, young professionals, and artists to study abroad for one academic year.

      The Fulbright U.S. Student Program is administered by the Institute of International Education (IIE).

      Fulbright Canada Science, Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) Award

      The Fulbright Canada STEM AwardExternal link offers U.S. students support for three years of doctoral study at one of six leading Canadian research universities (McGill University, Université de Montéal, University of Alberta, University of British Columbia, University of Toronto, and University of Waterloo) in both basic and applied fields of science, engineering and mathematics.

      The Fulbright Canada STEM Award is administered by the Foundation for Educational Exchange between Canada and the United States of America.

      Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program

      The Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program sends American scholars and professionals abroad to lecture and/or conduct research in a wide variety of academic and professional fields.

      Fulbright Specialist Program

      The Fulbright Specialist Program, a short-term complement to the traditional Fulbright Scholar Program, sends U.S. faculty and professionals to serve as expert consultants on curriculum, faculty development, institutional planning, and related subjects at overseas academic institutions for a period of 2 to 6 weeks.

      Fulbright-Carlos Rico Award for North American Studies

      The Fulbright-Carlos Rico Award for North American Studies offers U.S. Scholars the opportunity to spend one semester in Mexico and one semester in Canada studying topics of interest to both countries.

      The Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program is administered by the Council for International Exchange of Scholars (CIES).
